Democracy
The events of Orange Revolution 2004 became the chance for Ukraine to establish new democratic way of development, to give Ukrainians possibility of creating real active civil society. To establish democracy in a country Ukrainians should create different public institutes and organizations, society should have active position in decision-making, legal norms are to be in action, citizens should have political stability and social safety.
Citizens’ activity is a driving force behind the development of democracy in Europe, particularly in the areas of implementing democratic values, such as human rights or gender democracy, and in the area of counteracting negative forces hindering the development of democratic Europe – such as xenophobia, anti-Semitism, or the extreme right.
Recent agreements and decisions of development of the program of the Eastern partnership of the European Union enable Ukraine to realize itself as European country and reliable partner in economic and socio-political sphere with the countries-neighbors of the EU.
The development of democracy is the founding principle of the Green policy implemented by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Central and Eastern Europe.
The spectrum of activity is to involve citizens to discuss political problems of Ukraine and Europe (development of the political system is in Ukraine, political and economic crisis and ways of overcoming it, eurointegration, Eastern partnership and others like that).
Also the important problem of discussion is a critical view on historic events in Ukraine, problem and peculiarities of Eastern and Western Ukraine, the problem of identity.
