Sofia Oliynyk is the coordinator of the Programme “Democracy Support and Human Security” since 2020. Her professional focus is devoted to support of the grassroots movements, namely in the field of urban and mobility development; promotion of critical historical discourse and development of the concept of “human security” in public discourse.
Her professional experience includes support of different aspects of democracy with the assistance of international organisations. Before joining the Foundation, Sofia worked with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, namely U-LEAD with Europe Programme. The scope of work was dedicated to supporting local self-governance and implementation of the decentralisation reform, as well as promotion of international partnerships (Peer-to-Peer Initiative). Prior to that she did a traineeship at the European Commission DG ITNPA (former DG DEVCO), worked with the National Development Institute supporting Parliament of Ukraine and OSCE/ODIHR election observation missions.
Sofia holds an MA degree in Philology, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and an MA in European Interdisciplinary Studies, College of Europe.
