Infographics: Women and Men in the Energy Sector of Ukraine
The infographic represents the main results of the research “Women and Men in the Ukrainian Energy Sector,” carried out in 2018 — early 2019 by the state institution “Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” with the support of Heinrich Boell Foundation in order to identify the most current gender-based problems in the Ukrainian energy sector and find possible ways of their resolution to ensure sustainable and socially fair development of the Ukrainian energy. The research partners have been Women’s Energy Club of Ukraine and the apparatus of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy.
The infographic provides a brief, vivid illustration of data concerning women’s employment in the Ukrainian energy sectors and the employment barriers they face. The wage gap between men and women is also depicted, as is the information on gender-based discrimination and biased attitude. Finally, a few reasons are listed why it is necessary to engage more women in the energy sector and what are the prospective areas for increasing female employment in this sector.
