This study of public access to decision-making related to the recovery of Ukraine in the context of environmental protection and climate change mitigation was conducted for the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Kyiv office — Ukraine, in January–February 2023 by analyzing current processes around the planning of Ukraine’s future reconstruction in order to determine opportunities and barriers for civil society representatives of environmental and climate to participate in these processes and influence decision-making to make reconstruction “greener”.
The idea of the study is to compare economic implications of two different scenarios of power sector development, one of which assumes phasing out coal for electricity production by 2030.
Consistency and quality of new electricity market model was undermined from the beginning by the rush to launch it before the expiry of the authority of the Groysman's government after the defeat of president Petro Poroshenko by Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Fact Sheet provides figures and numbers on the current state of the Ukrainian energy sector and outlines the benefits of a decarbonisation strategy for energy security, economic prosperity and climate protection.
The infographic is a brief and vivid reflection of the main results of the research “Women and Men in the Ukrainian Energy Sector,” carried out in 2018 — early 2019.
